This is provide some info for Marcus Books, a bookstore that's become a cornerstone to the Black community.. We are pushing to keep this open so it can continue to support local schools, reading programs and cultural events. This is the longest running Black-owned bookstore in the country with youth and community programs. A couple months ago the building that the bookstore shares was behind in payments. Speculators wanting the building somehow subverted the bookstore's delayed payment, although an associate of Marcus Books is supplying funds to purchase the building back. Here's a site http://SupportMarcusBooks.com
for updates. This is a bookstore that has hosted black authors since the Civil Rights era.
